less explaining. better answers. ♡

No tech skills required. You're basically just introducing yourself to your new assistant.

01

Let ChatGPT Get to Know You

Start here. ChatGPT will interview you one question at a time so you don't have to figure out what information matters.

Interview Me

Let ChatGPT learn the parts of your life that actually affect how it should help you.

I want you to help me build a personal AI assistant that understands my actual life instead of giving me generic advice. Interview me ONE question at a time. Do not give me a giant questionnaire. Learn about the parts of my life that meaningfully affect the help I need, including: - my work - family or household - responsibilities - typical schedule - recurring commitments - routines - goals - priorities - dietary or lifestyle preferences that matter to recommendations - things I regularly need help managing - things that overwhelm me - tasks I procrastinate - decisions I make repeatedly - how organized or unorganized I naturally am - how much structure I like - how I prefer information presented - how much detail I usually want - whether I prefer options or a recommendation - things I never want you to assume about me - anything else that would materially improve your future answers Ask follow-up questions when something important is unclear. Do not assume information about me. Do not turn every answer into advice yet. Your job during this stage is to understand me. Continue until you have enough information to build a useful profile. When you're finished, say: "I think I understand how your life works now. Ready to teach me how you like to be helped?" Then STOP.
02

Teach It How Your Brain Works

Knowing your schedule isn't enough. This step teaches ChatGPT how you actually want help delivered.

Learn How I Like Answers

Teach ChatGPT what makes an answer helpful instead of annoying.

Now I want you to learn HOW I like to be helped. Ask me ONE question at a time about my communication and decision-making preferences. Explore things like: - concise vs detailed answers - whether I want the answer first or explanation first - step-by-step instructions vs an overview - whether too many options overwhelm me - whether I prefer you to recommend the best option - how many choices I usually want - whether I like tables, lists, paragraphs or checklists - whether I want clarifying questions before you answer - how I want complicated tasks broken down - whether I want reminders about things I may be overlooking - how direct you should be - how much context I want - what kinds of responses frustrate me - what makes information easier for me to act on Use examples when that helps me answer. Do not assume my preferences. At the end, summarize what you've learned under: HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH ME HOW TO GIVE ME OPTIONS HOW TO HELP ME MAKE DECISIONS HOW TO EXPLAIN THINGS TO ME WHAT TO AVOID Then STOP.

Learn What Overwhelms Me

Build a special way for ChatGPT to help when your brain has officially left the building.

I want you to understand what happens when I'm overwhelmed and how you should change the way you help me. Ask me ONE question at a time. Learn: - what usually overwhelms me - what overwhelm looks like for me - whether long lists make it worse - whether decisions become harder - whether I procrastinate or freeze - whether I need the smallest next step - whether I want fewer choices - whether I need help prioritizing - whether I need tasks broken into tiny pieces - whether encouragement helps or annoys me - what kind of response makes things feel more manageable When you understand me, create: MY OVERWHELM MODE It should tell an AI assistant exactly how to respond differently when I say things like: "I'm overwhelmed." "I can't deal with all of this." "I don't know where to start." "My brain isn't working." "Just tell me what to do." Make the instructions practical and specific to what I told you. Then STOP.
03

Figure Out What AI Should Be Doing for You

Now that ChatGPT understands your life, make it find the things you shouldn't be carrying alone.

Find What You Can Take Off My Plate

Have ChatGPT analyze your real life and identify where AI could save you time, decisions and mental load.

Based ONLY on what you've learned about me in this conversation, analyze where an AI assistant could genuinely make my life easier. Do not give me generic "use AI to be productive" suggestions. Look specifically for: - recurring tasks - repeated decisions - planning I do frequently - information I repeatedly organize - writing or communication I regularly handle - scheduling or preparation - mental load - things I forget - tasks I avoid - things that take more time than they should - things I repeatedly research - routines that could be simplified - situations where I repeatedly start from scratch Organize your recommendations into: DO THIS FOR ME REGULARLY HELP ME DECIDE HELP ME REMEMBER HELP ME PLAN HELP ME COMMUNICATE HELP ME WHEN I'M OVERWHELMED PROBABLY NOT WORTH USING AI FOR For every recommendation, explain in ONE sentence why it specifically makes sense for me. Then choose: MY TOP 5 AI LIFE HACKS These should be the five highest-value ways YOU could help ME based on my actual life.
04

Build My Personal Instructions

the important part ♡

Turn everything ChatGPT has learned into one clean set of instructions you can keep.

My Personal AI Assistant Instructions

The full build. This is the prompt that turns everything ChatGPT has learned about you into one clean, reusable set of instructions.

Using everything you've learned about me throughout this conversation, create my Personal AI Assistant Instructions. The goal is to help future AI responses fit my real life without requiring me to constantly re-explain myself. Include only information that meaningfully changes how you should help me. Organize the instructions into: ABOUT ME MY REAL-LIFE CONTEXT MY PRIORITIES HOW I LIKE TO BE HELPED HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH ME HOW TO HELP ME MAKE DECISIONS HOW TO HANDLE PLANNING AND SCHEDULING WHEN I'M OVERWHELMED IMPORTANT PREFERENCES / CONSTRAINTS WHAT NOT TO DO Keep the instructions concise enough to remain useful. Do not include random biographical details simply because I mentioned them. Do not invent information. If two preferences seem contradictory, ask me about them before finalizing. After creating the instructions, review them and remove anything that would NOT meaningfully improve future answers. Then give me: VERSION 1: My complete Personal AI Assistant Instructions. VERSION 2: A shorter condensed version containing only the highest-impact instructions. Finally, tell me which version you recommend I use and why.
05

Put Your New Assistant to Work

Okay. It knows you now. Make it earn its keep.

What Should You Be Helping Me With Today?

A quick daily check-in: the three things your assistant can help with right now.

Based on what you know about me and what is happening in my life right now, identify the three things where your help would have the highest impact today. Prioritize reducing mental load, saving time, preventing problems or helping me move something important forward. Do not create work just to be useful. For each one tell me: WHAT YOU CAN HELP WITH WHY IT MATTERS TODAY WHAT YOU NEED FROM ME Keep this short.

Make This Fit My Life

Hand it any plan, routine, or piece of advice and have it reshaped around your actual life.

I'm going to give you a plan, recommendation, routine, schedule, idea or piece of advice. Do not automatically accept it. Evaluate it against what you know about: - my real schedule - responsibilities - preferences - priorities - energy - constraints - communication style - how I realistically operate Then tell me: WHAT WORKS FOR ME WHAT DOESN'T WHAT I WOULD PROBABLY NOT ACTUALLY DO WHAT TO CHANGE Then give me a revised version designed specifically for my real life. Here it is: [PASTE HERE]

Just Tell Me What To Do

For when there's no room for a plan — one action, one path, nothing else.

I'm overwhelmed and I don't want a big plan. Use what you know about me and follow my Overwhelm Mode. Here is what is happening: [PASTE HERE] Choose the ONE thing I should do next. Give me: RIGHT NOW: One action. HOW: No more than three tiny steps. DONE: Tell me exactly when I can consider this task handled enough for now. Do not show me everything else I need to do unless I ask.
06

Keep Your Assistant Current

Your life changes. Your assistant should too.

Update What You Know About Me

Walk it through what's changed and revise only the affected sections.

Some things about my life have changed. Interview me ONE question at a time to determine what has changed since we built my Personal AI Assistant Instructions. Focus only on changes that could meaningfully affect how you help me. Do not make me repeat information that hasn't changed. When we're finished: 1. Show me what changed. 2. Show me which existing instructions should be updated. 3. Create a revised version of only the affected sections. 4. Ask me to approve the changes before treating them as final.

Audit My AI Assistant

A clean-up pass on your instructions: what to keep, update, remove, or add.

Review the Personal AI Assistant Instructions we've created for me. Help me determine whether anything is: - outdated - unnecessary - too vague - contradictory - missing - no longer useful Ask clarification questions ONE at a time when needed. Then give me: KEEP UPDATE REMOVE ADD Finally, create a cleaner updated version. Do not make the instructions longer unless the additional information genuinely improves how you help me.

♡ Your AI Assistant Cheat Sheet

Want the tiny version? Make ChatGPT turn everything it knows into a quick reference.

One-Page Cheat Sheet

A condensed reference card summarizing everything ChatGPT knows about you.

Create a one-page cheat sheet for my personal AI assistant based on everything you've learned about me. Include: MY LIFE IN 5 BULLETS WHAT MATTERS MOST TO ME HOW TO TALK TO ME HOW TO HELP ME WHEN I'M OVERWHELMED MY TOP 5 THINGS TO USE AI FOR THINGS TO NEVER ASSUME Keep this extremely concise and useful.
